Ian Griffiths Principal Instrutor.

Ian has over 30 years experience in the training and handling of working dogs. Starting as a trainee Gamekeeper in NorthWales he trained his own Labradors and later became interested in the training and handling of German Shepherds for obedience, working trials and security work. He continued to gain further practical experience as a Gamekeeper at Knowsley, Rainford and Bickerstaffe were he trained and worked his gundogs and successfully competed in working tests and field trials.

For a number of years Ian worked at Croxteth Hall and Country Park where he was responsible for the training and running of a Parks Patrol Dog Section and attended a number of courses at Lancashire Constabulary Police Dog training centre at Hutton Nr Preston where all of the Dogs trained by Ian were accredited alongside Home Office, Police and Prison Service dogs. More recently Ian and his dogs have been in demand by Local Authorities and show organizers to provide dog training demonstrations which are both interesting and informative.

Not only as a trainer / handler of working gundogs and security dogs but a professional trainer and behaviour consultant for all breeds / types of dog. Ian has a wealth of knowledge and experience which novice trainers will find invaluable in producing a well adjusted, well trained canine companion either as a family pet or working dog.

Gary McCarthy - Instructor
Gary is a very keen shooting man who knows only too well the value of a properly trained working gundog. Having had his first gundog many years ago and has since then become an enthusiastic worker of Cocker Spaniels and most recently Labrador Retriever's who accompany him on all shooting expeditions.
Gary has many years practical experience of working his gundogs in the field, from beating on organised shoot days, to shooting over his own dogs on large sporting estates in Scotland and the like.

Gary is responsible for the development and coordination of training courses and in particular field training/shooting trips to Scotland in association with Case Sports based in Dumfries & Galloway.

With a background in senior management Gary brings a wealth of expertise and organisational skills, having held positions at Director level both in the Security and Property management fields, he is now responsible for all residential bookings, specialist courses and corporate training days. All enquiries for any of the above will be met with Gary's usual courteous and professional manner. Gary is also a founder member of MAP Working Gundogs and is an integral member of the team.

Derek Amos Instructor

Derek like Gary above has many years experince in handling gundogs and is very passionate about Labrador Retrievers and English Springer Spaniels.
He is a founder member of MAP Working Gundogs and regularly competes in working tests with his dogs around the country. Derek is very passionate about his gundogs and regularly beats and picks up with his dogs on large sporting estates throughout the North West. Derek is an integral part of the MAP team and regularly instructs classes in the handling and training of all gundog breeds.

Mark McGuirk. Instructor

Mark is a very enthusiastic worker of Labrador Retrievers and regularly instructs classes in MAP. Mark like all of our instructors is very passionate about his dogs and has had great success with his Labrador Bailey. Mark is also an integral part of the team, he also attends working tests gaining futher experience in all aspects of gundog handling and training. Mark also beats and picks up with his Labradors and regularly attends our training expeditions with all the team in Scotland.
